Basically, my caption sums up what I wanted to say as the other reviews here have covered this new Tame Impala album very nicely. But to expand on that, I first heard Tame Impala's "Runway Houses City Clouds" (from "Innerspeaker") on an internet psychedelic station and the airy Beatlesque vocal work in that simply blew me away. I ended up getting that album and was not disappointed with this band's extremely vintage psychedelic vibe via/John Lennon-style vocals so began wondering what they could come up with next. Well, they've answered in spades with Lonerism, an album that lives up to the promise of Innerspeaker and once again brings that Lennon/Beatles influence into the 21st century like no one else I know of. At the moment, the track that really stands out for me (and sounds like a great choice for a single) is "Apocalypse Dreams", but the same level of terrific melodic songwriting & production is also heard throughout the album - it's like this is one of those albums where you'll find yourself having different favorites over a period of time. So far, I've been listening to this via streaming audio but my purchase of the physical CD is forthcoming, just like with Innerspeaker. In closing, I think what impresses me most about Tame Impala is this: I'm not much of a fan/listener of any current music trends or present day artists but this band and their two albums is one glowing exception to that.
